Kirk Road is a residential street of about 1,365 feet in South Billerica, running northwest from Concord Road to the corner of Pinetree Road, Lupine Lane and Mirror Road; Edgar Road ends on it. It was laid out on a "Subdivision Plan of Land in Billerica" drawn by George H. Poor, surveyor, in November 1967, which re-divided earlier lots of the Ranlett land, registered in the Land Court as case 2792, into lots 326 to 405 on Edgar, Solar, Mirror, Kirk, Hilary and Pine Tree Roads. The town's records call it "Ranlett Grove, a definitive sub-division plan of land in Billerica," after the old riverside colony of Ranlett Grove to the west. The Planning Board approved it in January 1968, a copy was filed in the Land Registration Office on May 5, 1969, and it was registered on June 5, 1970 as Land Court Plan 2792-T (Registration Book 89, Page 29). The plan does not explain the name, and its origin has not been found. Nearly all of the houses on Kirk Road were built in 1970 according to the assessors.

The Planning Board submitted Kirk Road for acceptance in 1973, "From Concord Road to Pine Tree Road, a distance of approximately 1,364 feet," but it was not accepted, and in 1974 the town meeting referred it, with the other streets proposed that year, to a new Permanent Street Acceptance Committee. At the seventh session of the annual town meeting, on April 24, 1975, the town accepted the laying out of Kirk Road from Concord Road to Pinetree Road as shown on a "plan and profile Kirk Road, Ranlett Grove," prepared by Amherst Service Associates Inc. on April 4, 1974: "a way 40 feet wide for a distance of 169.36 feet from Concord Road and 50 feet wide the remainder of the distance with a total length of 1,364.63 feet," with $200 raised for repairs. The town overlaid the street in 1997 under its pavement management program.
